History

The Firm was established in 1988 as Tan & Federis Law Offices by A. Bayani K. Tan, Maria Gracia Pulido Tan, and Mila T. Federis.  In 1992, the Firm was renamed Tan & Venturanza Law Offices upon the admission of Rio Sesinando E. Venturanza as partner for litigation. It became Tan Venturanza Valdez in 1996 when Enrico G. Valdez was admitted to the Firm as partner for tax law.  Maria Gracia Pulido Tan joined the government in 2003 and was Undersecretary of Finance until February 15, 2005. She later took the helm at the Commission on Audit as its Chairperson.  The Firm is now composed of seven Partners who graduated from the country’s premier law schools.

The Firm initially focused its practice in corporation, litigation, and labor and industrial relations laws. After a few years, with the admission of new partners and associates, the Firm has expanded to offer an array of specialized fields of practice including securities, corporate organization and combinations, tax, property transactions and development, foreign investments, commercial transactions, intellectual property, oil and mining, telecommunications, banking and finance, immigration law, energy, government contracts and information technology.

Now, the Firm has grown into one of the Philippines' leaders in Securities, Tax, and Corporate law practice.

Tan Venturanza Valdez is the only Philippine member of the Network of Leading Law Firms (a U.S.-based affiliation of international law firms).  It is also a member of the Tax Management Association of the Philippines (TMAP).  One of the founding partners, Maria Gracia Pulido Tan, also served as TMAP President in 1997-1998.
